Behind the Faire Market: What We Learned and What's Coming Next
There's a version of this recap where I just tell you Faire Market was great, thank you all for shopping, see you next season. That version would be shorter, and easier to write. But I've always believed our stockists deserve the real story: what worked, what surprised us, and what we're already fixing before August.
So here's the honest version.
Faire Market 2026 was, by many measures, our best one yet. It was also a four-day crash course in exactly where our systems are tight and where they're held together with tape. Both things are true, and both things are worth sharing.
What Worked
The tiered discount structure. Instead of one flat percentage off, we built pricing that rewarded bigger orders with bigger savings. It sounds like a small thing, but the effect wasn't small buyers on the fence about order size had a real, visible incentive to go up a tier instead of trimming their cart.
Insider early access. Giving our Faire Insider members a full day's head start on July 20 did exactly what we hoped: it let our most engaged stockists shop without competing against the general rush, and it made "Insider" feel like something worth being.
Personal outreach to top stockists before the market opened. This is the one I'd underline twice. A short, personal note to our best-performing accounts — not a blast email, an actual message — meant several of our biggest orders were essentially locked in before the market even went live.
What We'd Do Differently
Nothing here went wrong, but a few things would go smoother next time:
Earlier SKU preview. We finalized our market offer close to the wire, which meant stockists had less time to plan their orders around what we'd actually be showing. Giving a preview a week or two earlier would let buyers come in with a shopping list instead of browsing cold.
More stock on the fastest movers. SKUs sold out faster than we expected, and we lacked the reorder buffer to keep up mid-market. Next time, we're building in more cushion on anything we suspect will be a hit.
Earlier email sequence. Our "Faire Market is coming" emails went out later than they should have. A longer runway teaser, reminder, final countdown gives stockists more chances to actually see the email land in their inbox and plan accordingly..
For Brands Considering Faire Market
If you're a fellow brand weighing whether to run a Faire Market offer instead of a flat discount, here's what we've learned works:
- Tiered pricing beats flat discounts. A single "10% off" doesn't give buyers a reason to stretch their order. Tiers do buyers can see exactly what a bigger order gets them, which nudges cart size up naturally.
- Early access turns discount-seekers into relationship-builders. A flat discount attracts anyone. Early access even just a few hours rewards the people who already believe in your brand, and makes that loyalty visible and worth having.
- Personal outreach outperforms automation, every time. A market offer blasted to your whole list is fine. A short, specific note to your top 10–20 accounts, sent a few days before the market opens, is what actually moves your biggest orders. It doesn't scale infinitely, but for the accounts that matter most, it's worth the time.
A market offer isn't just a discount it's a chance to build the kind of buyer relationships that outlast any single sale. That's the part we're most excited to keep building on.
